IICRC® Odor Control Technician (OCT)

The Odor Control Technician course covers olfaction and odor science, odor sources, source removal techniques for control, detection process, equipment, chemical options and applications. This course is for everyone involved in textile cleaning, property damage restoration, equipment and chemical manufacturing and sales, property management agencies, insurance representatives, and much more!

The IICRC Odor Control Technician course is a stand-alone, 1-day course or can be taken in addition to the IICRC FSRT course. For those interested in attaining Master Textile Cleaner or Master Fire & Smoke Restoration Technician status, the IICRC OCT course is a requirement for both. Otherwise, technicians in this industry can gain needed and beneficial knowledge of proper odor control techniques.

The OCT course will cover proper techniques of all the following:

Biological Sources:

• Decomposition
• Urine Contamination
• Mold
• Skunk
• Trauma

Combustion Sources:

• Organic Material
• Synthetic Material
• Protein Cook Down

Chemical Sources:

• Tear Gas
• Fuel Oil Spills

Practical Procedures:

• Soil Neutralization and Removal
• Deodorization Agents and Equipment
• Cost Saving Tips and Tricks

There is a test fee of $65.00, payable directly to IICRC® on the final day of the course, prior to receiving your certificate.
